The Horror The Horror Are Lost In The Wilderness

The Horror The Horror are anything but scary, quite the opposite actually. For a band that has such dark connotations, this is the feyist group of musicians to ever emerge from Sweden. Sounding something like Eggstone in a bar fight with The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, The Horror The Horror jangle and jump their way through songs as if their lives depended on it. Their third album, Wilderness is an airy, summery kind of record that's full of frivolity and is the sort of thing that Edwyn Collins would have made in 1986.

Wilderness is the best British pop album made by non-Brits that are 34 years late to the party you'll hear. Loaded with retro cool, jolly pop songs, and a sense that no matter how bad things get music can always put a smile on your face, The Horror The Horror don't seem to know what negative emotions even are. Wilderness is a fantastic record that has summer written all over it and is destined to be held in high regard with the bands that clearly influenced it. It's bands like The Horror The Horror and albums like Wilderness that remind us over and over that Sweden is the new capital of indie pop and destined to be that for the foreseeable future.
