One Last Hurrah!!

The Last Hurrah!! are anything but a defeated beaten up band of musicians about to give up; far from it, in fact. Instead this Norwegian group, spearheaded by HP Gundersen, is as rustic as the Norwegian countryside. Their latest EP, Spiritual Non-Believers, is a droney, slightly twee, and slightly weird folk record.

Clocking in at 40 minutes, the three songs that make it up are all over the map. As if to prove this point, the second song alone is 31 minutes long which would seem that The Last Hurrah!! has some prog-rock leanings. The first and third songs, "Mother Nature" and "Melodi Grand Prix 63,” on the other hand borders on fairy folk. Its interesting listening that takes folk music in a different direction and makes it enjoyable.

From the huggable vocals of Heidi Goodbye to the droney guitar work of HP, The Last Hurrah!! make folk music tolerable and even a bit hypnotic! Spiritual Non-Believers, as a result is folk music it's ok to like.
