Dark Colour's Memories

Dark Colour is anything but dark. In fact, this one man synth pop machine (aka Randall Rigdon Jr) creates danceable tunes that are covered in slow moving sparkling light and mirror ball mayhem. His album, Memories, is a, uh, memorable ride through the depressed side of your local indie disco. With laid back grooves aplenty and half-awake vocals, he sounds like the laziest most disinterested pop star on the planet.

In all actuality though, Memories motivates itself to the dance floor and once it finally shuffles out there, has difficulty leaving. Its hazy beats and slackadaisical vocals weave a hypnotic spell over your brain and with lush lo-fi synth sounds filling the airwaves Dark Colour casts its shadow over you all too easily. This is a great record that's slightly gothy and depressed but just well enough to find itself mesmerized by technology. Call it medicated synth pop, call it indie dance, call it whatever you want it is still good stuff. Memories will help make a few, be it on the dance floor or in a dark room.
