Your Youth Say Aloha
Your Youth's single Aloha is a fantastic blast of indie pop made the old fashioned way...shouty vocals, slightly out of tune guitars, and bashed drums. Your Youth don't necessarily sound like the best band on the planet, but they play with a sincerity that makes you like them. The songs are a bit roughshod and skittish, but they hit you square in the heart and ears with hooks that would make the guys from Deadliest Catch jealous.
Aloha is a fast paced, melodic blast of fun that refuses to slow down from the start. It jumps out of the gate with the caffeinated pogo power of, "Awake," and doesn't look back until the last note of, "Boomerang," hints that you do just want the title suggests...go back to where you came from...track one. This is a fantastic, joyous EP that's the perfect soundtrack to summer shenanigans and has fun written all over it and if you don't believe me, let "Rip Live," convince you; a song so good it will have you running in circles.
Simplistic, jangly, and really rather great, Your Youth's Aloha proves that traditional indie is still alive and well and that no matter how most posturing some bands do for popularity, good music will always prevail. Aloha is good music and a single worthy of you possessing.
