The Vandelles Have A Summer Fling

It's amazing to see how influential the Jesus and Mary Chain have become nowadays. I'm pretty sure that about a third of today's indie wouldn't exist if Psychocandy was never recorded. One of the band's that would undoubtedly be flipping burgers instead of writing distorted surf anthems that blow out Marshall stacks would be the Vandelles. Their Summer Fling EP is a sunny day at the beach if it involved rows and rows of effects pedals a wall of amp's and pop songs that glisten as well as the sun, sand, and sea.

Clocking in at just five songs, the EP pretty much lives up to its title...Summer Fling. It's short sweet, and leaves you craving more at the end. With sugary sweet melodies, washes of guitar noise, and a sense that the record was recorded underwater, The Vandelles craft their noise with the very idea that chaos can be made into something fun. These guys are good and whether they're underwater, on a wave, or in a studio you get the sense that great songs will follow them wherever they go.

Here’s hoping that an album will not be far behind this EP. Quite honestly we want more than a fling...we want a long term relationship.
