Sugar & Gold Give Bodyaches

Sugar and Gold take the Wallpaper template of tongue in cheek funk and make it all serious again. This two piece San Franciscan group, takes 80’s synthetic funk and throws it on the dance floor, cover it in all black, and give it some serious grooves. The result is a fantastic little record that goes by the name of Bodyaches. Containing two new tracks and a whole host of remixes from their previous album, Get Wet, Bodyaches seems more like a stop gap kind of thing than an actual album and while that's usually a bad thing, in this case Bodyaches is anything but.

With dark bass lines, keytars ablaze, and titanium strength songs Sugar and Gold set themselves up for one heck of a good time. While much of this record features remixes by an eclectic set of artists/producers that no one has ever heard of, the two original tracks seem to hint that this is one band that knows how to party and dance all while meshing electro, new wave, and minimalism into a pop cocktail of epic strength. Whether it's the throbby Nastique remix of, "Feels Like Fire," or the the radio friendly pop funk of , "Versatile Receiver," Sugar and Gold do so little wrong here that it's hard to find fault with anything on this record.

Fun, hypnotic, and destined to pack out a dance floor wherever it's played Bodyaches is a fine record put together by one of the best underground indie dance artists around. Sugar and Gold create exactly what their name says...sugary sweet electronic battle weapons worth their weight in gold.
