Zayra Likes To Go Bang

Zayra's latest record, Baby Likes To Bang is loaded with all kinds of suggestive imagery involving, but not limited to vampires, military regalia, and a strong sense of something gothic. In all reality, that's kind of where the suggestive nature of her record ends, and the full on dance onslaught begins. Essentially a single (with eleven tracks) as opposed to an album, Baby Likes To Bang features six original tunes and five remixes with a bulk of those coming from the song, "VIP."

So what’s all this about? Well, Baby Likes To Bang is a record packed to the gills with house rhythms and beats enveloped in something that approaches electro but never quite reaches there. That being said, the single is surprisingly good and really with all this imagery floating around how could it not be.

As you might expect with a title like Baby Likes To Bang the record has a guaranteed level of cheesiness built into it, but the songs, and Zayra's vocals are seductive enough to carry you out on the dance floor and spin you around like a record…baby. With Zayra being a reality TV show veteran (she was on Supernova), songs like "Sexy Super Mini Skirt," and the aforementioned, "VIP," are the perfect vehicle for her to reveal half truths and sarcasm as if it was her job. "VIP," is truly the hit in the making as it pokes fun of the whole Hollywood scene and paints a vivid picture of the world in which people like Paris Hilton and, everyone’s favorite jailbird, Lindsay Lohan live. It's sarcastic and funny and when Dave Aude gets his hands on it and works it, he takes the song to peek time massive club scale and unleashes a beast with top notch production and a remix for the stars...and not the Hollywood kind.

While the title track and the other tunes ("Feel Good," "Liquid D," and, "Violent Man") that make up the record or good, it's really, "VIP," that is the stand out of the bunch. Baby might like to bang but Zayra loves the VIP's and it's evident all over the five separate versions of the tune. Perhaps sounding a bit like W.I.T. at their poppiest, Zayra has done a really good job here that manages to reign in the camp and restrains it from being over the top. It's a fun record and everything about Baby Likes To Bang is top notch. She may have been a reality star and she might very well be undead but one thing is for sure while Baby Likes To Bang she'll stop at nothing to be a VIP.
