Scars on 45 are far from a band that will leave scars...in fact they might not even leave a bruise judging by their single Give Me Something. This four track single hints at the Coldplay-ish heights this band aspires too. And while they don't sound like Coldplay per se they have that downtrodden mopey pull at your heartstrings thing down pat.
From the minute the title track launches into a sweeping song about marriage you can't help but wonder what the heck they are on about. Did you really just listen to a song about marriage? And while your scratching your head over that the band continue on with a couple of more tracks that mix electric and acoustic instrumentation to come up with so many radio friendly combinations that the single should just come with one.
Give Me Something is an anthemic sky reaching single that further cements Britain as the home of mope rock. But, with that said, in listening to this EP one can't help but wonder how many bands do there really need to be that all sound like this...especially since Coldplay pretty much has the market cornered? Just ask Travis.
