Polyester Asks For Peace, Love, Unity, Respect

Considered a pioneer of the new Los Angeles hip hop scene, Polyester sees himself as more than a hip hop artist. Chilled out, creative, and able to do just about everything himself, Polyester is an artistic force that will not be denied. Judging by his new album, Peace, Love, Unity, Respect he proves himself to be much more than just another rapper. Mixing jazz, funk, and of course hip hop together he allows guest appearances from MARZ Lovejoy, Casey Veggies, Zipp and others to breathe life and diversity into this recording.

Peace, Love, Unity, Respect is a pretty decent record that hints at being club ready, but seems a bit too chilled to ever leave for it. The beats and rhymes slide by without a sense of urgency and while obviously hip hop, the records jazzy feel helps keep it relaxed and almost like an R&B record. Polyester makes a record that seems light on its feet while still maintaining a level of intelligence and fun. Peace, Love, Unity, Respect is far from an intense record but rather more like a cool breeze and a ray of sunshine. The record has such a positive vibe to it that it very rarely gets grimy or even angsty. This is an "adult," hip hop record if you will, because the overall feel is more mature and relaxed than most of what floods the market today.

Polyester looks different, sounds different, and thinks different and it's all of these things that makes Peace, Love, Unity, Respect a pretty decent record. From the somewhat obviously titled, "Find Ourselves," to the quiet storm vibe of "Weekend Chicc," Peace, Love, Unity, Respect wants nothing more than to live up to it's title. Judging by the songs here they should have no problem. Polyester is a true talent and he's innovative and eclectic enough to keep anyone listening that picks up Peace, Love, Unity, Respect.
