The Syllable Section Know Improvisation

The Syllable Section are an intriguing bunch, and their latest EP, Improvisationals is exactly as it implies...improvised. All songs here were actually improvised and used as a template with which all instrumentation was written and composed upon. As one might expect with something that's completely improvised, the record is an absolute mess of sound. It's the band heading off in five different directions and very little of it making sense.

Improvisationals is a bizarre listen simply because it's hard to listen to and make out what they're doing. The drummer seemed to be in a different room, the two vocalists seem to be staring into each others eyes, the guitars are all over the place and the end result is the definition of chaos as it applies to pop music. It's confusing to say the least, it's barely music in a traditional sense but it feels adventuresome, crazy, and fun and if you like David Lynch...you'll love it!
