Eulogies Are Tempted To Do Nothing

First off I just have to say that Eulogies latest single, Tempted To Do Nothing is the coolest CD single I've ever gotten. Not only is this single a CD but it's also part record, yeah record. The top of the CD plays like a record while the bottom of the CD is, as you might expect, a CD. As bizarre as that sounds it actually works and looks ridiculously cool.

Anyway, novelty aside, the songs that make up the single are just as cool as the presentation. Eulogies, unlike their rather grim name, are quite a cool, jovial, noisy indie rock group and Tempted To Do Nothing is a nice slice of lazy harmonic bliss. The four songs that make up the single come across as a blend of Dinosaur Jr, Magnapop, and something Iike Vampire Weekend. "Bad Connection," for example, is a slacker-tastic slice of pop that lifts itself up with a soaring chorus about turning ones life around. It's a great indie pop tune that masterfully uses the quiet/loud dynamic to make the song sticky sweet.

While unfortunately short, Tempted To Do Nothing is a fantastic single packed with four songs of melodic, lethargic pop bliss that sees Eulogies rapidly becoming a force to reckon with. After hearing and seeing the thought that went into this single, I cannot wait to see how their next full length album turns out. Eulogies are definitely a band to keep an eye on and Tempted To Do Nothing is a record to listen to repeatedly until album #2 is released.
