Wigald Boning's Jet Set Jazz

With a cover that looks like something straight out of a cabaret singers catalog, Wigald Boning pulls a quick one on the listener before they even get to hear his album. Rather than sounding something like a high-society songbook Jet Set Jazz is exactly as the title says...an album packed with easy listening tunes designed for the on the go bachelor. (That would explain the girls dressed in bright red then! -- Common Sense Editor)

Anyway, Jet Set Jazz is like listening to a light music station from 1968 on repeat. It's the sound of martini's, plush apartments, and hi-fi's. It's swinging, it's cool, and it's as easy as a Sunday morning. Wigald Boning has done an awesome job here of keep lounge music fresh in the minds of those who may have forgotten it and for that I thank him for a fantastically fun record.

With brushed drums, samba rhythms, cute and kooky background vocals, piano, horns, and vibes man, Jet Set Jazz is all about atmosphere and fantastically groovy laid back tunes. It's pretty great stuff that'll have you digging out your tux and booking flights on Boeing 707's to exotic locations around the world.

With the exception of the occasional electronic dabble, most of Jet Set Jazz sounds like it belongs in the 60's and that's half of it's charm. From the opening note of "Lost in London," to "Sotheby's," and the bossa grooves of, "Bossa Beirut," you'll be swept up in the time warp with a cocktail in your hand and whisked back to a better time. In today's day and age...how is this a bad thing? Get on board with Wigald Boning and be taken aback with Jet Set Jazz.
