Jack Splash Is Heir to the Throne
Jack Splash has had one heck of a ride over the short span of his career. From the moment his first 12inch was released and the Chemical Brothers jumped all over it, to winning Album of the Year on Gilles Peterson's BBC Radio Awards in 2004, Jack Splash hasn't slowed down. In fact, if anything he's gotten even busier since then, working for Alicia Keys, T-Pain, Estelle, Missy Elliott, Shakira, and even Britney Spears Jack Splash has been swamped. The guy clearly has talent and is still in demand, which leads us to his mixtape, Heir To The Throne Volume 1.
As with most mixtapes, Heir To The Throne Volume 1 is all over the place and as such can't really be judged as anything more than a sampler of what Jack Splash is all about. After checking this out, I've got to say, I'm very excited to hear his official album when it's released in March, as the guy clearly knows how to write a tune. Heir To The Throne Volume 1 has soul, has funk, has a groove, has hip hop and has an edge that shows that all the work and all the experience Jack Splash has garnered over the last five years is being put to good use. While he tends to be at his best when he writes electro bangers, he's still got the skills to lay it down with any genre he sets his mind to and do a pretty good job of doing just that.
For a free CD, Heir To The Throne Volume 1 is worth it's weight in platinum. The tunes are banging, the production is top notch and the level of anticipation builds throughout this record to the point where you kind of just hope his new album magically pops out of nowhere. Until that day happens next month Heir To The Throne Volume 1will more than likely be on repeat in my cd player.
