MC Lars Knows this Gigantic Robot Kills

MC Lars is one heck of an MC. While so many MC's today are materialistic, flashy, and rough; MC Lars is nerdy, geeky, and hilarious. Lars takes hip hop and smashes it into indie rock and then add's a bitter twisted sense of humor to it. The result is something that will have you laughing so hard, you'll find yourself reaching for tissues from all the crying. His latest album, This Gigantic Robot Kills is packed with rhymes that will have you in stitches and is yet another masterpiece of nerdcore hip hop.

While you might be saying to yourself, "I've never heard of MC Lars so why should I care?" Well you should care, because just about everyone else in the musical world knows who he is and somehow has found time to make an appearance on This Gigantic Robot Kills. From Weird Al to members of the Donnas, Cobra Starship, and even the Fat Boys, MC Lars has rounded up a herd of talent that gives This Gigantic Robot Kills an even crazier feel with more lyrical twists and turns than the Pacific Coast Highway.

With songs that cover just about every genre and topic known to man, including the kitchen sink (see 35 Laurel Drive) This Gigantic Robot Kills is a record that is literally all over the place. From politics to video games, suicide to scenesters MC Lars covers it all and does it using beats, electro blasts, Fugazi covers, ska, indie rock, ballads, and oh yeah, hip hop. It's so diverse that it's almost impossible to keep track of, but that's what makes this record a crazy listen. This Gigantic Robot Kills is an album on a sugar rush of epic proportions and it's a non-stop blast of zaniness except for the touching tribute to a friend on "Twenty Three."

MC Lars has way to much fun making music and it's infectious. It's something you can hear on just about every song on This Gigantic Robot Kills. In fact, this is a ridiculously fun record that doesn't seem to take itself all that seriously and makes its intentions obvious. The feel good hit of the summer? Yeah, probably. This Gigantic Robot Kills is definitely one for all you comedy, parody nuts out there.
