Kid Sister Goes Ultraviolet
To say Kid Sister's debut album was anticipated might very well have been the understatement of the year. Rescheduled more times than a Comcast appointment, this record was supposed to come out somewhere around my 17th birthday but never did. Twenty-two years later, Ultraviolet has finally seen the light of day and will make everyone who has patiently waited for this thing a very happy camper.
Utilizing just about every underground genius in electro over the past two or three years, and then upping the pop quotient a bit more than normal Ultraviolet is a sassy sexy electro hop record that's as hot as a Chicago summer without air conditioning. Yuksek, A Trak, Herve, Sinden, Trakademics, Rusko, Estelle, Cee-lo, Kaney, and Agnello & Ingrosso all have a hand in this record so it should really come as no surprise that this record is unbelievably good. How could it not be? Look at that list of talent, it's ridiculous. All that and Kid Sister's rhymes make this record easily one of the best electro/hop records that you're likely to hear.
Produced to the nines and most definitely designed to get some serious dance floor action, Ultraviolet is just about perfect. While it might be slightly more commercial than it should be, Kid Sister still shines through the gloss and shows that she's having the time of her life. I love this record for the simple fact that a) it's fun b) it's like an electro/Fool's Gold family reunion c) the record is just banger after banger without any let down. Impressive to say the least Ultravioletis one of the few albums I've enjoyed from start to finish. Despite more delays than an airport, Ultraviolet was definitely worth the wait.
