Settle Know At Home We Are Tourists
Settle is a band whose origins go back to high school when frontman Nick Rose and his brother, drummer, Will put the band together and then went through the mandatory series of member changes. Somewhere near the turn of the century, the band solidified their lineup with current guitarist Dave Goletz and bassist, Chris Burcin and began playing, playing, and then playing some more. After playing shows for what seemed like an eternity the band decided to head to the studio and actually record a record. Eight years after originally putting Settle into motion, At Home We Are Tourists is a milestone moment for this young and upcoming band.
At Home We Are Tourists is an energetic and spontaneous record. It's a hyper, sugar fueled blast of power pop, indie rock, and emo that sounds something like Blink 182 meets Tokyo Police Club. At Home We Are Tourists is a speedy little ordeal that blows by you at about 150 miles an hour and is over before you realize it's even started it. In listening to At Home We Are Tourists you can tell that Settle have channeled a lot of musical and kinetic energy into this record because they can't sit still for more than about 30 seconds.
Settle are so animated and dynamic that At Home We Are Tourists comes off as a non-stop frenzy of riffage, melodies, and hooks. It's as if the drums, guitars, and synths collided all over the place making some sort of racket that makes some sort of musical sense. In fact, At Home We Are Tourists, is actually one of the few records that benefits from such vigorous musical assault. It's mind numbingly vivacious and really quite good.
With enough energy to power a small city and enough hooks to win over every enormodome everywhere, Settle have created a genius blast of powerful pop that's on the verge of exploding. Armed with an uncanny ability to write songs with hooks bigger than life itself, Settle are one heck of a young band and At Home We Are Tourists is a fantastic introduction into a fantastic band.
