The Herbaliser Band Sit Down For A Session
With a sound best described as funky crime scene jams, The Herbaliser Band have returned with Session 2 and are out for revenge. Armed with enough instrumentation and ideas to fuel a small police force, the Herbaliser Band tackle crime and the city head on with this eleven track barrage of soulful dramatic instrumental tracks that are just itching to be used.
Packed with all the melodrama, scene setting noises, and wah wah pedal that you would expect to find in The Streets of San Francisco circa 1977, Session 2 is an imaginative trip down memory lane. Packed with car chases, shootouts, quiet passages, foot races across the city and a dramatic end, Session 2 even reads like a drama waiting to happen. The Herbaliser Band bring the funk, the ambience, and the tunes to Session 2 and to put it simply, if this were the soundtrack to a TV show it would be appointment TV.
The Herbaliser Band excel at creating atmospheres for your mind to run wild in and each of the songs on Session 2 plays out like a separate scene in which our heroes are immersed. It's fantastic stuff that's as funky as it is original and as brilliant as it is dangerous. Having listened to this a bunch of times and having this strange urge to preted I'm in a car chase in a parking garage, I can't help but wonder if these guys can come up with the soundtrack to a TV show how would they do as scriptwriters...Are you listening NBC? Are you?
