DJ Rupture and Matt Shadetek's Solar Life Raft

DJ Rupture and Matt Shadetek's album Solar Life Raft is a sunkissed bass excursion that sounds like it has washed up on the shores of Jamaica. Based out of New York, but with their minds in the islands, this dynamic duo blends beats and basslines together with a tropical slant that will keep you warm on the coldest of nights. This is the sound of summer in the coldness of winter and it's bloody brilliant and much needed.

Mixed on three decks and containing twenty-five tracks the Solar Life Raft is an epic journey through sun drenched excursions into the great beyond. With dub plates echoing and beats rolling, the album builds into a frenzy of intriguing sounds, samples, and songs. This is probably the best dubstep, dancehall, whatever mix album to come out in a long, long time and at times reminds me of old Orb dubs so much that it makes my head spin. It's a phenomenal record that will push the limits of your stereo system and those of you with ipods...it might just consume them in a bassline frenzy of destruction.

Solar Life Raft is an energetic rolling mix that even at it's slowest points is ridiculously good. Featuring a host of exclusive tracks as well as classics in the making Rupture and Shadetek have put together a masterful record that's as emotive as it is moving. This is the sound of the islands run through the urban desolation of New York and truth be told, it couldn't sound better if it tried. Solar Life Raft is the one dubstep, reggae, dub record you must purchase this year. It's as simple as that.
