Brother Ali Knows The Truth Is Here
After almost two years since the release of his critically acclaimed sophomore album, The Undisputed Truth, Brother Ali has just released The Truth Is Here EP in anticipation of his next studio album slated for the fall. At a lengthy nine tracks and featuring seven previously unreleased songs, The Truth Is Here is more like a supplemental album then an EP. When you add in the bonus DVD featuring a full live performance, commentary, and videos you’ve got one heck of a package for the price of a single.
That being said, does the EP live up to being worthy? Oh, most definitely. Brother Ali, is a talent and his rhymes are gripping tales of the world around him that bob and weave creating plot twists everywhere. His flow is flawless and his gritty delivery hits hard and hits fast over the tripped out underground beats that carry him forward. The Truth Is Hereas a result is a record that is firing on all cylinders; from, "Philistine David," to "Good Lord," Brother Ali never backs down and even when he gets a bit downtempo, his songs are still strong. It’s truly impressive stuff.
If the songs that make up The Truth Is Here have been released as a teaser/supplement for his next full length I can only imagine how good that record will be. The Truth Is Here will probably end up being the underground hip hop single of the year. Not only is it the most bang for your buck, but Brother Ali is a powerhouse bubbling under just waiting for his big break and his next record might just be that chance.
