Secret Love 5 Barely A Secret

After four Secret Love compilations it's definitely fair to say that by this point the love isn't so secret any more. On this, the fifth Secret Love compilation that's especially true considering the line up once again is loaded with big name artists taking a second to keeping things quietly cool and serenely seductive.

With a lineup as diverse as indie rockers Choir of Young Believers, Quiet Village, the 60's inspired folk of Pop Levi, and everyone's favorite Canadian popstress Feist, Secret Love 5is a record that's hard to keep under wraps. While most of, if not all of the music here is quiet, folky, acoustic, chilled and just generally mellow the album manages to be deeply thrilling to listen to simply because of the variety of music contained within.

Secret Love 5truly proves that music is universal as many approaches are used but one theme remains: quiet coolness. Whether it's the retro folk pop feel of, "Love You Straight," by Pop Levi, to the barely there chilled beats of Boom Clap Bachelors, "Combiner," or Thief and their host of robot voices on, "Down Down (Owusu Remix)," the album never ceases to offer lush sounds and easy going vibes.

Overall, Secret Love 5 is a fantastic little record that never ceases to woo you with it's relaxed vibe. Whether or not these compilations are remains a secret is up for debate, but after hanging out with most of the series and Secret Love 5chances are it won't be for very long. This is the definition of unrestrained, magnificent, and rich pop music on a completely chilled tip.
