The Lava Children Bubble Up

Weird. That's the easiest way to describe the Lava Children. This groups five song EP of the same name is a perplexing, puzzling little record that sounds like what would happen if folk music went wrong. The Lava Childrenis a loud, dense, odd record that comes off like a broken Mazzy Star record that's been warped and recorded backwards and for that very reason alone you can't help but wonder what the heck is going on.

With sounds that could be equated to broken guitars, bottles, bashed cymbals and vocals that sound like the product of too much cough syrup and cigarettes, The Lava Childrencasts a strange spell upon the listener. Surprisingly the record pulls you in with it's distorted and atypical songs that don't really make any sense at all but confuse you just enough so that you can't turn away. From the broken toys and quirky time signatures of, "Troll," to the what the heck vocals of, "I Am A Pony," The Lava Children have come up with something so unusual that it grabs your attention. Pop music this is not, but it's just avant garde enough to make your brain do a double take and sometimes that's not a bad thing.
