Eulogies Are Here Anonymous
Picking up where they left off with their Tempted To Do NothingEP, Eulogies have returned with their newest opus entitled Here Anonymous. And like Tempted To Do Nothing, Here Anonymous is a masterwork of lazy hazy pop that's effortless and laid back.
Still sounding like more subdued Death Cab for Cutie mixed with a bit of noise, distortion, and angularity to give the record some spice amongst its slacker tendencies Here Anonymous stands out with melodies the size of Alaska. It's pleasant stuff that's really in no hurry to go anywhere and it apathetically works its way into your collective being. It's really quite brilliant stuff and songs like "How To Be Alone," and "Out Of Character," are the very definition of slackerific anthems and you kind of get the feeling that the members of Eulogies know first hand how to be alone and out of character judging by these songs.
Charming and lackadaisical, Here Anonymousdoesn't really build momentum as it does hold it steady. The songs quietly plod their way along never making to much of a ruckus but still managing to have one heck of melodious impact and pop sensibility about them. They might not jump up and down and be obnoxious but the songs on Here Anonymous make their presence known in subtle almost invisible ways; a riff here a quiet chorus there. It all adds up to an album that is so filled with catchy inconspicuous hooks that you'll find yourself won over and you won't even know it.
Eulogies aren't quite dead yet and despite it's laziness, Here Anonymous is filled with intricate songs that shows there's still more than a bit of life left in the band that's worth hearing.
