Alka Is A Dog Lost In The Woods

Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz oh what a relief it is. No, I'm not talking about Alka Seltzer but ambient soundscapist Alka. This super creative, low-profile Jersey producer is back with a new record called A Dog Lost In The Woods and if you loved or even heard his last album, Principles of Suffocation, you'll find this new album a haunting, imaginative adventure that plays out like a choose your own adventure.

Alka weaves together his banks and banks of electronics into a lush, ethereal realm where beats and synths wash up next to each other on fizzy shores. Songs ebb and flow and fill your mind with images and feelings that are left to run wild in your brain. Without a word in sight, Alka create a world in which illusion and creativity are the rulers. As a result of all this A Dog Lost In The Woods sounds like early Orbital crossed with Bill Nelson if they were both lost in space. It's truly beautiful stuff that's a flight of fancy into realms beyond our own.

Ambient albums are a dime a dozen and they're ridiculously easy to make, so it's always impressive when an artist makes an album that makes an emotional impact. Alka does so, many times over. In fact, A Dog Lost In The Woodsis the best sci-fi mystery soundtrack without a movie in 2009. It's a textural creation of epic proportions that hints at how technology will one day rule the world.
